We don’t want the action to stop. There are no scheduled water breaks. When you rotate off, you’ll have 5-7 minutes until your next game starts. Be efficient. Stay near your court to cheer your team on. Use time to hydrate, use the facilities. Team spirit is encouraged as is strategizing. Scout out your next opponents, and BE READY TO PLAY YOUR NEXT GAME.
At the end of the game, PLEASE leave ball on court.
On the court, you don’t need to rush. Play the game at YOUR PACE. Play with intention. Take 30 seconds before your game to discuss a game plan with your partner. Each team is allowed one 30 second timeout per game.
Please limit your movements behind the courts while other teams are playing.
TIES: Ties after any opening round jumbles will be broken by most total points, then point differential, and then a dice roll, coin flip, and staring contest.Â
MISSING TEAMMATE: If one of your teammates is missing from a game, your team automatically forfeits that game 15-0. (Any two of you can play that game—just to enjoy a game of pickleball—but your team will take a “0” if you play out of order.)
ROTATION: Honour system to monitor this rotation. We know you will all compete with honour.
INJURY DURING PLAY: Unforeseeable things happen. We MIGHT have a player on standby to play if one of your teammates gets injured
SPACE SAFETY: Teammates who aren’t on court may stand by their game court only when preparing to rotate in. (End court players may stand beside the court and middle court players can stand directly behind their court.)
We LOVE that everyone wants to watch, including friends and family! Please ask folks to watch from upstairs, rather than inside the doors at entrance to courts.Â
REFFING: You are responsible for your own refereeing. If you get stuck, try to come to a mutually agreeable solution. Replay the point. Be fair. Please no arm chair refs “helping” with line calls from the sidelines.Â
ALCOHOL: We want everyone to play their most joyful pickleball. But absolutely no alcohol on the courts. We’re guests in this space.
FILMING: Your privacy is paramount at this event. If you want to record your game for your own development, please ask the other team’s permission. If they’re not cool with it, don’t do it. Make sure your camera is placed in a safe spot and isn’t recording the players on other courts. Our expectation is that photos and video will NEVER be shared publicly without permission from anyone in the images.Â
